In the most recent ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, Pakistan’s all-format captain rose to a career-high Test batting rating, marking a significant accomplishment.
After making two half-centuries in the third Test against England in Karachi, Babar rose to the position of number two in Tests for the first time in his career. Currently holding a sizable lead, Marnus Labuschagne is in the lead.
While Marnus Labuschagne kept the lead with a good home series against the West Indies, the right-handed batsman passed Australia’s seasoned Steve Smith. With 875 rating points and 61 fewer than Labuschagne in the most recent standings, Babar inched closer to taking the top spot.
Smith, however, finished third, five points behind Babar, after scoring 36 and a six against South Africa.
