Former finance minister Miftah Ismail asserts that Pakistan could still fail even if a deal is reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Miftah asserted that the IMF agreement will not immediately lessen the risk of default or the amount of that risk in an interview with a private news channel on Thursday.
Nevertheless, he believed that the deal will be signed by next week because “important procedures” had been finished.
According to the former minister, certain political acts must be taken even at the level of the prime minister because the foreign lender had previously spoken with him directly.
He added that discussions with “friendly states” were also necessary.
