KP Province Implements Section 144 Following Imran Khan's Arrest

Following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has implemented Section 144 in the province.

Details indicate that the choice was made in response to possible protests and civil disturbance brought on by Imran Khan’s imprisonment.

There can be no protests by PTI employees or supporters because Section 144 forbids gatherings of more than four persons in a public area.

Imran Khan, the head of the PTI, was detained earlier today and transported to Islamabad after a District and Sessions Court found against the former cricketer in the Toshakhana case.

Imran Khan was given a 3-year prison term by the court, and the former prime minister’s plea to have the case dismissed was denied.

In addition, he was fined Rs. 100,000, and if the payment is not paid, the sentence would be extended by another six months in jail.
