Long Articles Can Be Simplified & Summarized Using This AI Tool

On Tuesday, the creators of the Instagram news app Artefact unveiled a new AI tool that can summarize articles. This feature is exciting because it has the potential to summarize articles in a variety of amusing or extremely useful ways. Users can access the function by touching the “Summarise” option after selecting the “Aa” icon at the top of the screen.

In a few seconds, the summary will appear at the top of the screen in a black box. You can select different summary tones including “Emoji,” “Poem,” “Gen Z,” and “Explain Like I’m Five” by using the three dots menu in the same black box.

The tool fared surprisingly well in The Verge’s tests across all of its tone options. The “Explain Like I’m Five” option is just as straightforward as you might expect, whereas the “Poem” option, while occasionally being slightly off, frequently works. But out of all the options, the fundamental “Summary” tone is the most dependable.

As Artefact warns that its AI tool can make mistakes, we suggest reading the entire article and comparing it with the summary to be sure that no significant information was missed or inaccurate data was generated.
