
According to sources, Pakistan’s initial request for a fuel subsidy was denied by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The government’s entire gasoline subsidy scheme was requested by the financing institution, reports state. “The IMF has proposed a comprehensive plan of per litre 50 rupee subsidy on fuel,” sources at the Ministry of Finance said.
According to sources, Pakistan and the IMF have maintained virtual contact, and the IMF has requested the creation of a new gasoline subsidy package.
“The administration has recommended gasoline discounts for owners of motorcyclists and modest 800 CC autos,” according to insiders.
