Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that the coalition members had unanimously decided to hold national elections on the same day in October or November during a meeting of the federal cabinet.
Shehbaz Sharif briefed the media on today’s ruling alliance meeting and stated that there was “consensus” that the assembly will finish its term on August 13 and that general elections would need to be called in October or November.
He added, “The terms of talks between the coalition government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding holding elections across the country on the same day will be discussed by the parliamentary committee.”
PM Shehbaz Sharif asserts that the current circumstance is very challenging and that the federal government’s position on the Supreme Court’s 4-3 decision is unchanged.
