Shan Masood and Imad Wasim are vying to succeed Shadab as vice captain

All-arounder Imad Wasim and opener Shan Masood are the front-runners to replace vice captain Shadab Khan for the upcoming home series against New Zealand.

Babar Azam will once again serve as captain for the aforementioned T20I and ODI series against New Zealand after being rested for the Afghanistan series.

After consulting with Babar Azam, the selection committee will meet the following week to decide on the T20I and ODI squads for the series.

The team will be revealed on the same day as the meeting, which is expected to occur on April 4.

Top PCB executives reportedly opted to rest Shadab for the New Zealand series because they were dissatisfied with his choices during the Afghanistan series.

Shadab, the team’s leg-spinner, is likely to lose his chance to play in the New Zealand series in favor of Usama Mir. Mohammad Rizwan is anticipated to continue serving as the Test team’s vice-captain.

The chairman of the PCB management committee, Najam Sethi, will make the final determination about the selection of a vice captain. Once the PCB chief has given his or her approval, a formal announcement will be issued.
