In a major move, the Sindh Ministry of Education has stopped paying salaries to more than 2,000 ghost teachers across the state, sources said.
The Sindh Ministry of Education has written to the state’s general accountant to stop the salaries of 2,019 ghost teachers.
According to a letter from the Ministry of Education, Sindh AG has forfeited the salary of spiritual teachers.
Sindh Education Minister Akbar Ragali said he would furlough the services of teachers who are sitting at home and receiving salaries.
The salaries of 464 false teachers in Kambal, Jacobabad and Dadu, 144 spiritual teachers in Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurhas districts, and 182 spiritual teachers in Benazirabad have been suspended. In addition, the salaries of 128 spiritual teachers in Sanghar, 89 in Naushero Feroze, 128 in Shikarpur and 155 in Larkana were identified.
