State Bank freezes $225 million in airline on Google Payments

In a press release issued Wednesday, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global airline trade body, named Pakistan as one of the top places where repatriation of air money is prohibited.

The statement added that Pakistan blocked $225 million in airfare for repatriation. Nigeria blocked her $551 million, while Venezuela has to settle her $3.8 billion airfare blocked for repatriation since 2016, it said.

IATA represents about 300 airlines and covers 83% of the world’s air traffic. According to IATA, Pakistan is one of the top five countries in the world (excluding Venezuela) that blocked airline funds.
