The launch of the "Facebook Stars" feature in Pakistan by Meta is major news for Pakistani content producers.

Singapore: Great news for Pakistani content producers as Facebook Stars, Meta’s monetization tool, has now officially debuted in Pakistan. This allows producers to interact with their audience and make a living.

This significant news was disclosed via Twitter by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who on Friday paid a visit to the Meta (Facebook) Asia-Pacific HQ in Singapore.

FM Bilawal Bhutto emphasised a strong desire for increased cooperation between Meta and Pakistan during the visit, highlighting the successes and enormous potential of the IT sector in Pakistan.

However, he made the huge announcement today (Saturday) by saying: “BIG NEWS for Pakistan from [Meta] in Singapore. From now on, Pakistani producers on [Facebook] can earn money of their material through [the] new Facebook stars function.”

He continued, “I’m happy to be the first Pakistani official to visit Meta and get to tell the Pakistanis this news.” He expressed gratitude to the Meta team for inviting him to the main office.

According to a statement made by the multinational tech giant Meta, Facebook Stars will enable fans to send and purchase digital goods to support content creators, check the earnings of Pakistani content creators according to the type of content they produce, manage their goals, and access other Stars settings.

Facebook Reels, Facebook Live, on-demand videos, photographs, and text postings all support the feature.

“A crucial component of our ongoing engagement in Pakistan is assisting innovators in creating communities and turning their interests into careers. According to Jordi Fornies, director of emerging markets for Meta’s Asia Pacific region, “Today we are delighted to announce that Facebook Stars is open to all qualifying creators in Pakistan, enabling more people to start earning while they expand their creativity, audience, and careers.

This year, Meta introduced short-form, amusing video experiences and tools to producers and audiences in Pakistan with “Reels.” Reels is now the content type that is expanding the fastest across all Meta platforms. Every day, Reels are played on Facebook and Instagram in excess of 140 billion times.

“We are happy to see Meta’s involvement in assisting Pakistani small companies and providing new avenues for Pakistani content producers to earn significant, dependable money on their platforms. The Pakistani Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, spoke today at the Meta regional headquarters in Singapore. “We hope the Stars programme will generate new opportunities to monetize and play a part in improving the country’s digital economy,” he stated.
