Tourism in Qatar increased by 347% following the World Cup

Over 730,000 tourists visited Qatar in January and February of this year, a 347 percent increase from the same time previous year.

According to a statement from Qatar Tourism, the number of foreign visitors climbed by 406 percent in February to reach 389,000, and by 295 percent in January to reach 340,000.

Except for the months leading up to the 2022 Fifa World Cup, February saw the highest number of foreign visitors to Qatar in the preceding ten years.

The 2030 vision of Qatar Tourism, according to Berthold Trenkel, chief operating officer, plans for six to seven million visitors annually, with tourism accounting for around 12% of the GDP.
