Transgender people receive 7,000 rupees under Benazir Kafarat scheme

The Benazir Income Assistance Board (BISP) on Friday named beneficiaries of transgender people to include more disadvantaged groups in the program (BKP).

An agreement was reached at the 56th BISP Council meeting chaired by Germany’s Minister of Poverty Alleviation and Social Security and her BISP chairman Shazia Marri, according to an official statement.

In a video of her message on Friday, Mari explained the process.

“Transgender members of the community are encouraged to register with the BKP,” she added, adding that upon successful registration, they can receive Rs 7,000.
